Thing is, I like SS but if it's rumoured to be on ITV, where are they going to put the show?
There's not many regional slots for them to put SS into the schedule except Thursday nighttime in place of regional stuff like Around The House (which will not work), unless ITV are networking Shortland St for the first time, and even that could be a filler replacement (as it was when it was shown in regions) for shows like Divided and The Chase until those come back on air and SS is pulled.
If not ITV, maybe Five or BBC or Sky have it? SS would be a better show for Sky1 on daytimes instead of stuff like Angela and Friends, and for the BBC better than rerun after rerun of Murder She Wrote.

I used to love Shortland Street and it would be great if it came back onto our screens and a bonus to have the lovely Adam Rickitts on our screens again yum

Really hope this is true, would be ace to see Shortland Street back on our screens

I've just searched for Adam's page on Facebook and can't find anything about Shortland Street returning to the UK. The official SS FB page doesn't mention anything either.
Sun_Beam, can you show me the link to Adam's page so I can find out what he said as I can't find anything, even after searching through Adam's pages. At the moment, I'm taking this with a pinch of salt until I get confirmation from South Pacific Pictures or ITV on SS's return in the UK.

Will it be the whole Uk though? I am sure they only showed it in England , I maybe wrong.

SS was shown in England,Wales and NI- I don't think it was shown in Scotland, except for maybe Grampian.
Thing is, where would ITV's daytime controller Alison Sharman put Shortland Street in the schedule if ITV got it?
12.30pm is a no-no because of Loose Women, 1.30pm is a no-no because it goes up against Neighbours,Doctors and the BBC regional news, and if SS is there, Sharman will have to move the ITV News to 1pm (putting Alistair Stewart up against the BBC's 1pm bulletin),move LW to 12pm and cut This Morning down, which won't go down well with Pip and Holly.

Does it mean Rickett will reprise his role as Nick!

I can't see that happening- I mean what contract does Ben Price have at the moment? I can't see Granada switching from Ben to Adam again in the role of Nick- it would look as bad as the Patricia/Alison thing in Sons and Daughters.
    But you never know.

I for one would be happy to see him back on the street:D Unlikely but it would be great, he's so gorgeous I would just be happy to see him back on our screens

The news is his latest status update on his official Facebook page. I'm friends with him, so only friends can view the full page and said Shortland Street status update, but I'll copy and past it for you and others to see:
    Adam Rickitt- Secnd Act
SHORTLAND STREET STARTS AIRING IN THE UK AGAIN! !! THE SHOW HAS BEEN BOUGHT BACK AND WILL START FROM 4YEARS AGO WHEN I JOINED.... SO YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT IVE BEEN DOING THE LAST 4YEARS !!!on Saturday

Adam's character, Kieran Mitchell, is still on the show until his final, 90minute last episode on August 2nd, and might well be returning to the show next year to direct some episodes as that's something I think he's negotiated seeing as he's loved working on the show and adored living in NZ.
Adam wont be returning as Nick as he's got a lot of projects going on all this year and next. He's been there, done that and has no intentions of returning to the Street.
One of the various people who replied to said status update said it would probably be on ITV, and that we'll hear more next week. It's definitely happening, and I can't wait as the overall show is great, but I'm over the moon that I'll be able to see Adam in probably one of his best roles - certainly the one he's loved working on the most. It's all done and dusted, and they know by now the days and time slots, so looking forward to more concrete news soon.

Well he can't return to the street since they recast Nick:p
I'm not going to take this with much, and you may be friends with him, it's just the amount of people who say 'my source says' etc

Wow it sounds like he's going to be really busy, just been watching his You Tube videos.
    Thanks for the update:)

That's fine as I know some people do lie to get attention, but I'm no liar (I'd lie about something more dramatic than this lol), and am I'm logged into his page right now - all it takes is a fellow Adam fan to friend request him, and they can see the status is genuin and correct for themselves. Both Adam and SS has a Twitter account, so fellow fans of him and SS can follow him or the show and if there's anything on there about it, then they can see it for themselves.

ITV is hardly jam-packed with quality shows in the afternoons, so there's no reason as to why it cant be slotted in anywhere! lol It may not be on ITV1, but on a regional channel - if so, then I've got them all tuned into my Sky box, so I can still watch - as can anyone else as all they need to know are the codes.
All anyone needs to do is friend request him, read the status update and see for yourselves - you can always delete him once you've read it iof your not a fan! lol

    oo twitter? I wanna follow:p
I hope it does come back, on ITV2, it would be quite easily fit into either 2 o clock, or 2:30(Depending how long an episode is) and aslong as they promote it, it could do well, they could even slot it in at 7:30/8 o clock if need be
