  • Vortex 1.0 Release

Back towards the end of 2016 we began work on a new mod manager, Vortex, to replace the ageing Nexus Mod Manager. Unfortunately, we considered this change a necessary act considering the mess that NMM was (and still is) in.
When we first started work on Vortex we were very aware that, over the 6 years that we worked on Nexus Mod Manager, it remained in a state of permanent beta which reflected our lack of confidence in the software's ability to remain stable and provide a solid exper...

  • Issues with Pay Pal payments over the past couple of weeks

We've noticed an increase in support tickets recently related to payments failing when attempting to purchase Supporter or Premium Membership on the site. This issue seems to have only affected a small subset of people who have purchased membership through Pay Pal, but it's important I get the word out so these users are not out of pocket or out of membership they legitimately paid for on the site.
The issue was caused by a communication error between Pay Pal's services and our servi...

    What does this mean?
Any applications using this service will no longer be able to log in, retrieve mod information or handle downloads from our site. We've been working with the developers who maintain some of the most popular modding tools to help them make the transition to the new API...

Day of Defeat Source Patch v1.0.0.38 +AutoUpdate Day of Defeat Source Patch From v37 to v40 download links are externally hosted on Extabit, Rapidshare, Rapidgator, Netload, Uploaded and Day of Defeat Source Patch From v37 to v40 also available directly on Torrent Sources. Day of Defeat: Source takes the classic gameplay of the original Day of Defeat and improves the experience with Source, the advanced engine technology Valve created for Half-Life 2.

Platforms:PC
Publisher:Valve Corporation
Developer:Valve Corporation
Genres:3D Shooter / First-Person Shooter
Release Date:2005
Game Modes:Multiplayer

Day of Defeat was originally a Half-Life mod. It gained some traction as an online shooter in its day, and has even proven itself to be worthy enough of an engine remake with this game. Don’t expect any huge advancements from the first game, though.

Two teams, no vehicles, small maps and many weapons make Day of Defeat Source a ferociously claustrophobic shooter. The only problem? It ain’t got any bot support, so you have to buy it on Steam for anything other than LAN play. The maps range from the usual World War II-themed sights, all of them with a strong emphasis on closed-quarter combat that gives the game its gritty feel. Many revolve around navigating through bombed-out towns, full of ruined streets and stationary vehicles that act as props.

Day of Defeat is a bit of a cross between Counter-Strike and Team Fortress. The weapon categories are similar to BF1942, except none of them have any really special abilities. So you’ve got your riflemen, submachinegunner, heavy assault, sniper, bazooka dude – it’s all there, in either American or German garbs. Some of the weapons have an alternate firing mode or special ability. For example, you can look through the iron sights of a rifle for zoomed-in shots with the right mouse button, but with an SMG you’ll see your character performing a melee attack.

It’s all well and good, but the end of the day this is merely a graphical update with some minor gameplay tweaks. You can’t expect much when this game was originally a budget release, and it’s definitely able to deliver some vicious fun when you find a populated server, but with no bot support, your entire enjoyment of DODS will hinge on your probabily of finding other people to play against.
