Visual Foxpro Odbc Driver Windows Server 2008 R2

-->Dell

Microsoft Visual FoxPro is a powerful object-oriented environment for database construction and application development. The Microsoft Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver enables applications to open, query, and update data in Visual FoxPro and earlier versions of FoxPro through the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) interface.

For example, with the Microsoft Visual FoxPro ODBC Driver you can do the following:

  • Use Microsoft Query to query and update Visual FoxPro data from Microsoft Excel worksheets.

  • Create mail-merge letters using Visual FoxPro data with Microsoft Word.

  • Query and update Visual FoxPro views and tables from Microsoft Access.

  • Use Visual FoxPro as the data store for Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C++, and C applications.

We have some FoXPro 2.6 files such as 'AddUser.DBF' file that can be read in Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server by a 'Micosoft Visual FoxPro OLE DB Provider', it can read 'AddUser.DBF' file by our ASP.NET 1.1 (Visual Stodio 2003) web-based application, not problem. We have been using MS Windows 2008 R2 Server now.

You can use the driver to accomplish many other tasks. The following table lists a few topics to help you get started.

I installed SQL Server 2008 Express R2 on a computer with windows 7 Home Premium OS. Created the DSN (ODBC). The connection is OK when you test it. When I try to access the database using a VFP 9 program (exe) on the same computer I get the message SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
I get the same message when I turn off UAC and the firewall.
All the protocols for SQL Server 2008 Express R2 are enabled.
Both SQL Server and SQL Server Browser services are started during the run.
The connection string is sqlstringconnect([dsn=Mortgage;trusted_connection=yes]). It works OK with SQL Server on Windows XP.
